Artist Statement

I am interested in creating spaces that feel both familiar and ambiguous with a focus on the abstract. Working in oil and cold wax enables me to paint in an intuitive manner. My artistic process is driven by exploration and layering, which involves mark-making, drawing into and scraping away using various tools and techniques. These multiple layers contribute to a sense of history within each piece, reflecting the cycles found in nature.

I aim to capture the viewers’ imagination, whether working abstractly or more realistically. I invite viewers to examine the artwork closely, take in the details, and perhaps discover meaning that transcends ordinary perspectives, allowing them to be intrigued by the mysteries within each piece.

As a contemporary artist, my process is dynamic and continually evolving.  I embrace change and what emerges in my work is influenced by my techniques, the medium I use, and the myriad of natural elements surrounding my studio on Dancing Ridge.
